2nd Grade Field Trip 4-28-08

Kayla's 2nd grade class went on a field trip. First we went to Children's Hospital. We learned all kinds of things about the hospital. The doctors and nurses talked to us about germs. They showed us how to use some of their fancy equipment. They also gave us our very own hat, mask and gloves. Next, we stopped for a picnic lunch in Chilhowee Park. It was a little chilly today, but at least it had stopped raining. Our last stop was at the Discovery Center. We learned all kinds of things about light. Then we were able to explore all around the facility and see all the neat exhibits. It was a great day!

Nana and Papaw got a new puppy!

Today we went with Nana and Papaw to the Sexton Farms to get them a new puppy. The Sexton Farm was 96 acres full of all kinds of animals. They had all kinds of dogs and live stock. We couldn't believe how many dogs there were there (over 100). Nana and Papaw got an adorable white Bichon puppy. He was born on March 2, 2008. They have decided to name him Max. He is very calm. He will spend his days sitting on Papaw's lap. They will be great
companions for each other.

Well after Nana and Papaw had the puppy at home for a few hours they decided to change his name. He is now Sam. All of our male dogs growing up were always named Sam, so I guess they couldn't mess with the tradition.

Student Awards Ceremony 4-19-08

Kayla's entry in the Reflections contest which won at the Knox County level won an Award of Merit at the State level competition. I had to drive Kayla to Dobyns Bennett High School in Kingsport, TN to attend the awards celebration. Kayla got a medal and a certificate. It was a lot of driving for one day, but it was well worth it!
