Ms. Roxie's 105th Birthday Party! 1-27-08

I took the girls to Ms. Roxie's 105th Birthday party today. Ms. Roxie used to babysit my sister and I years and years ago. She is an unbelievable woman. She still to this day writes an article in the Rockwood Times newspaper. The party was held at the assisted living home that Ms. Roxie lives at in Rockwood. She knew exactly who I was when I walked up to her. It is just amazing that she can remember so much after all these years. We had a good time today. This may be the only 105th birthday party that we ever get to go to!

Dena Rizzo comes to ORAD 1-25-08

Dena Rizzo, a professional hip hop dance instructor from New York City, came to the Oak Ridge Academy of Dance to teach the students some new moves. Courtney was very excited this year about Dena's visit. Last year she was so nervous about the class. The students did a great job. They learned a short hip hop dance to perform for the parents at the end of the class. Courtney thought it was really cool to dance with a real hip hop dancer from New York City!

Courtney's New Hair Color!

Courtney has wanted to color her hair for over a year now. She has asked me a hundred times if she can get red stripes of color in her hair. She first began this when she saw the band Everlife. One of the members of the band has red highlights in her hair. Courtney thought it was so cool! She has wanted them ever since. So crazy me let her do it! I figured it is only hair and we can always color it back to brown if we get tired of it. So here is some pictures of Courtney with her new hair color. She wouldn't let me take pictures of her with all the aluminum foil and chemicals in her hair. She did not want that posted on the blog.

Courtney's Awards Assembly Jan. 18, 2008

Courtney had an Awards Assembly at school on Jan. 18, 2008. Courtney got 2 awards for being on the honor roll for both the 1st and 2nd nine week grading periods. She also got a medal for winning first place in the reflections contest. Courtney entered this year in the dance category. She choreographed her own modern dance. Way to go Courtney!

Courtney got her first pair of pointe shoes! Jan. 13, 2008

On January 13,2008 Courtney got her first pair of pointe shoes. Her whole point class had to meet at a dance store in Chattanooga for their fittings. We drove down with her friend Miranda and tried on point shoes for at least an hour. Courtney has the biggest feet! We had a hard time finding just the perfect pair. Finally we found the ones she liked! Now if she can get herself up on her toes we will be in business. After we got our shoes, toe pads, ribbons and elastics we were on our way to lunch. We stopped at a restaurant named Sticky Fingers. Many of the older girls at the dance studio talk about this restaurant and wear t-shirts from there. Needless to say we came home with our very own Sticky Fingers t-shirt! We had a fun day! I can't believe that Courtney is already old enough for pointe shoes! It seems like only yesterday when she was 3 years old and in her very first ballet class.
