Booms Day 2008

We celebrated Labor Day tonight by going to Booms Day. The fireworks were great! They had a wonderful show this year. We met the Shafer family and the Inman family at the top of Thompson Boling Arena to watch the fireworks. We had a great view! Can't wait till next year!

A Day of Fun in Downtown Knoxville

We spent our Sunday afternoon in Downtown Knoxville. First we went to the new East Tennessee History Museum. It is a wonderful new museum that just opened last weekend. It was really interesting. I took my history geek, Sonya with me. She really enjoyed it! They really have some neat pictures and things to look at. When we got done there we strolled down Gay Street to the Mast General Store. We of course got some candy and a few other goodies. We had to head home after that. We have to get ready for Boom's Day fireworks tonight.

Wivik The Frog's B-day Party at Zuma Fun Center

We went to WIVK's mascot Wivik the Frog's birthday party at Zuma Fun Center. The radio station had been advertising this party for weeks. The girls kept hearing the advertisements and had to go. We made the Shafer's go with us. Sonya has always loved going to Zuma! They had free cake, ice cream and video games. The kids got a wristband to do everything for just $10. What more could you ask for on a Saturday night?

Meyer's 1st Birthday

Our new dog, Meyer, turned 1 on August 14, 2008. We celebrated his birthday at home with a few friends. The Shafer's came over with their dog Belle to help us celebrate. Meyer really liked his cupcake. He wasan't sure at first if he should actually eat his cupcake or not. Otis liked his cupcake so much, he even ate the paper liner.

Mom and Dad's Backyard

My parents have a beautiful back yard. They have been working on it for the last couple years. They were recently asked to be part of the "Pond Tour". This tour included ponds in the surrounding areas. The girls and I went over there while the tour was going on. I took a few pictures while I was there. The yard was absolutely beautiful, so I thought I would share them with you.

Best Friends

Kayla and Audrey wore their best friends outfits to school. They were so cute! Kayla wished that her and Audrey could see each other more during the school day, but unfortunately they are on opposite sides of the school this year.

1st Day of School August 2008

Back to school time! The girls are back to school. Kayla was okay with my picture taking this year, but Courtney wasn't so thrilled. She was way to cool to let her mom take pictures of her at school. I went ahead and tortured them a little and then I was off to IHOP to eat pancakes with some friends.

Meet The Teacher

Well it is time for another school year! I can't believe the summer is gone already! Courtney is going into the 5th grade this year. This is her last year in elementary school. I don't know where the time has gone! Courtney was thrilled to hear that she got Mr. Grimac this year as her teacher. She had prayed all summer that she would be in his class.

Kayla is going into the 3rd grade. She was so excited to hear that she was going to be in Mrs. Clapp's class. Mrs. Clapp does so many fun activities during the year. Kayla is going to have a great year!

Aunt Shannon sings in Oak Ridge

Aunt Shannon was asked to sing at an event in Oak Ridge. I took the girls so they could watch her sing. They had a great time! The loved seeing Aunt Shannon sing, but they also loved the FREE snowcones!

Our 1st Piano Recital

Courtney and Kayla had their first piano recital. They started taking piano this summer. They took an eight week course with Mrs. Babcock. They did so well! I couldn't believe how much they learned in just eight weeks!

Hannah Montana 3D Movie

The Disney Channel aired the Hannah Montana 3D movie on TV. The girls were so excited! We had seen the movie already in the movie theater, but they wanted to see it again. Walmart was handing out the 3D glasses for free to everyone. We got enough for our whole family (even the dogs). This is a picture of Scott, the girls and dogs watching the movie. It was a great family movie night!
